  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to cities; permitting cities to close certain 
  1.3             unlawful businesses; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 415. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [415.17] [BUSINESSES THAT VIOLATE ORDINANCES.] 
  1.7      The governing body of a home rule charter or statutory city 
  1.8   may order that a place of business be closed if it determines 
  1.9   that the business conducted at the place was in violation of a 
  1.10  city zoning or licensing ordinance at the time it was 
  1.11  established.  The city must have in place a proper notification 
  1.12  procedure and have followed the procedure prior to requesting 
  1.13  the enforcement of this section. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; APPLICATION.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective August 1, 1995, and applies to a 
  1.16  business established or licensed on or after that date.
