  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; allowing a donation of accrued 
  1.3             sick time for certain Minnesota state college and 
  1.4             university employees; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 136F. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [136F.421] [DONATION OF ACCRUED SICK TIME.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, an employee of the 
  1.9   Minnesota state colleges and universities who is not eligible to 
  1.10  accrue vacation time may donate in any fiscal year up to 12 
  1.11  hours of accrued sick time for the benefit of another employee 
  1.12  of the Minnesota state colleges and universities.  An employee 
  1.13  may not be paid for more than 80 hours in a payroll period 
  1.14  during which the employee uses sick leave credited to the 
  1.15  employee's account as a result of a transfer from another 
  1.16  employee's sick leave account.  The chancellor, in consultation 
  1.17  with the employees of the system or their exclusive 
  1.18  representatives, shall establish procedures for eligibility, 
  1.19  duration of need based on individual cases, monitoring and 
  1.20  evaluation of individual eligibility status, and other topics 
  1.21  related to administration of this program. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Section 1 is effective the day after final enactment.
