  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to cities; exempting the city of Luverne from 
  1.3             Minnesota investment fund grant limit; reallocating an 
  1.4             appropriation. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [MINNESOTA INVESTMENT FUND; CITY OF LUVERNE.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding the grant limit contained in Minnesota 
  1.8   Statutes, section 116J.8731, subdivision 5, a grant of up to 
  1.9   $1,000,000 may be made to the city of Luverne to offset severe 
  1.10  job losses due to plant closings. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION TRANSFER.] 
  1.12     The commissioner of trade and economic development shall 
  1.13  transfer any remaining funds from the $1,000,000 appropriated 
  1.14  for a single grant recipient under Laws 1997, chapter 200, 
  1.15  article 1, section 2, subdivision 2, to a different single grant 
  1.16  recipient, to be identified by the commissioner. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.19  enactment.
