  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to economic security; appropriating money for 
  1.3             workforce center involvement in school-to-work 
  1.4             initiatives.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $4,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of economic security for workforce center programs 
  1.9   to support school-to-work initiatives.  The school-to-work 
  1.10  initiatives shall train students about workforce centers, 
  1.11  provide workforce center services in schools, bring students to 
  1.12  workforce centers, and provide services for out-of-school 
  1.13  youth.  The appropriation is available for the fiscal year 
  1.14  ending June 30, 1999. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1998.
