  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; requiring legislative approval 
  1.3             before the commissioner of health adopts new or 
  1.4             amended rules governing the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air 
  1.5             Act; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.6             144.417, subdivision 1. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 144.417, 
  1.9   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subdivision 1.  [RULES.] The state commissioner of health 
  1.11  shall adopt rules necessary and reasonable to implement the 
  1.12  provisions of sections 144.411 to 144.417, except as provided 
  1.13  for in section 144.414.  Rules implementing sections 144.411 to 
  1.14  144.417 adopted after January 1, 2002, may not take effect until 
  1.15  approved by a law enacted after January 1, 2002.  
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
