A bill for an act
relating to data practices; classifying financial account numbers as private or
nonpublic data; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 13.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

account numbers of an individual or entity, whether provided in whole or in part, collected
or maintained by a government entity are private data on individuals or nonpublic data
with regard to data not on individuals.

new text begin Tennessen warning not required. new text end

new text begin The requirements of section 13.04,
subdivision 2, imposed when an individual is asked to supply private or confidential data
concerning the individual shall not apply to an individual providing financial account
numbers to the government entity when engaged in a financial transaction with that entity.
