A bill for an act
relating to veterans; appropriating money for activities related to dedication of
the World War II veterans memorial.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $....... is appropriated in fiscal year 2007 from the general fund to the commissioner
of veterans affairs to pay for activities related to the dedication of the World War II
veterans memorial in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 9, 2007. The commissioner shall use
the appropriation to notify all World War II veterans in the state of the dedication, invite
them to attend, and pay for transportation, meals, and lodging, as necessary, to those
veterans so as to maximize attendance at the dedication. The commissioner shall adopt
guidelines for determining amounts to pay to veterans who require financial assistance to
attend the dedication. The commissioner may also use a portion of the appropriation to
pay for a reception following the dedication. This is a onetime appropriation.
