A bill for an act
relating to public safety finance; appropriating money for peace officer training
related to domestic violence no contact orders.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... is appropriated for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, and $....... is
appropriated for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, from the general fund to the Peace
Officer Standards and Training Board to:

new text begin (1) develop preservice and in-service training courses relating to no contact orders
in domestic violence cases; and
new text end

new text begin (2) reimburse peace officers who have taken a training course described in clause (1).

new text begin At a minimum, the training must provide instruction in the laws relating to no contact
orders, address how best to coordinate law enforcement resources relating to no contact
orders, and attempt to increase peace officer empathy for victims of domestic violence.
