  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; changing and extending the 
  1.3             farmer-lender mediation program; appropriating money; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 583.22, 
  1.5             subdivision 5; Laws 1986, chapter 398, article 1, 
  1.6             section 18, as amended. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 583.22, 
  1.9   subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 5.  [DIRECTOR.] "Director" means the director of the 
  1.11  agricultural extension service Minnesota attorney general or the 
  1.12  director's attorney general's designee. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.14     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.15  attorney general for fiscal year 1998 for operation of the 
  1.16  farmer-lender mediation program under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.17  chapter 583. 
  1.18     Sec. 3.  Laws 1986, chapter 398, article 1, section 18, as 
  1.19  amended by Laws 1987, chapter 292, section 37; Laws 1989, 
  1.20  chapter 350, article 16, section 8; Laws 1990, chapter 525, 
  1.21  section 1; Laws 1991, chapter 208, section 2; Laws 1993, First 
  1.22  Special Session chapter 2, article 6, section 2; and Laws 1995, 
  1.23  chapter 212, article 2, section 11, is amended to read: 
  1.24     Sec. 18.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.25     Sections 1 to 17 and Minnesota Statutes, section 336.9-501, 
  1.26  subsections (6) and (7), and sections 583.284, 583.285, 583.286, 
  2.1   and 583.305, are repealed on July 1, 1997 1998.
