  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; restricting sale and 
  1.3             possession of traffic signal-override device; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.06, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.06, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5b.  [SALE AND POSSESSION OF OVERRIDE DEVICE.] (a) 
  1.10  For purposes of this subdivision, "traffic signal-override 
  1.11  device" means a device mounted in a motor vehicle that permits 
  1.12  activation of a traffic signal-override system described in 
  1.13  subdivision 5a. 
  1.14     (b) No person may operate a motor vehicle other than an 
  1.15  authorized emergency vehicle that is equipped with a traffic 
  1.16  signal-override device. 
  1.17     (c) No person may sell or offer for sale a traffic 
  1.18  signal-override device to any person, government agency, 
  1.19  corporation, or other entity that does not operate authorized 
  1.20  emergency vehicles.
