  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing a grant for 
  1.3             Mid-State Education District No. 6979; appropriating 
  1.4             money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [GRANT TO MID-STATE EDUCATION DISTRICT NO. 
  1.7   6979.] 
  1.8      $150,000 in fiscal year 1998 and $150,000 in fiscal year 
  1.9   1999 are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.10  of children, families, and learning for a grant to the Mid-State 
  1.11  Education District No. 6979, for a job shadowing program and 
  1.12  internships.  The programs shall be conducted in conjunction 
  1.13  with the department of military affairs' programs based at Camp 
  1.14  Ripley.  The goals of the program are to: 
  1.15     (1) provide "real-world" occupational experiences; 
  1.16     (2) demonstrate integration of academic and vocational 
  1.17  education in a worksite setting; 
  1.18     (3) provide a more complete continuum of integrated 
  1.19  experiences in order to meet Minnesota's graduation standards; 
  1.20     (4) further develop the school-to-work career partnership; 
  1.21  and 
  1.22     (5) provide mentoring services from both the school-based 
  1.23  and worksite perspectives.
