relating to public safety; appropriating money to replace eliminated federal funds.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $10,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, and $10,000,000 for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2009, are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of public safety to replace federal grant money eliminated from the Office of Justice
Programs for the 2008-2009 biennium. The commissioner may use this appropriation
only for programs currently funded by federal grants that are losing all or part of their
federal funding in fiscal years 2008 and 2009.
