A bill for an act
relating to human services; requiring the commissioner of human services to
develop a comprehensive asthma care plan.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin COMPREHENSIVE ASTHMA CARE PLAN.

new text begin (a) The commissioner of human services, in consultation with stakeholders, shall
develop a comprehensive asthma care plan that:

new text begin (1) recommends best practices for asthma treatment;
new text end

new text begin (2) incorporates home environmental assessments and interventions in the
prevention and treatment of asthma; and
new text end

new text begin (3) provides adequate resources to prevent and treat asthma for all children who are
enrolled in Minnesota health care plans.

new text begin (b) The commissioner shall report to the legislative committees with jurisdiction
over health and human services policy and finance issues by February 1, 2014, on the
comprehensive asthma care plan developed under paragraph (a) and recommend any
legislative changes necessary to implement the plan.
