relating to natural resources; appropriating money for zebra mussel pilot projects.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ZEBRA MUSSEL TREATMENT PILOT PROJECTS.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2012 is appropriated from the clean water fund to the
commissioner of natural resources to conduct pilot projects in lakes and rivers with
zebra mussel infestations to test emerging methods to mitigate zebra mussel infestations,
including potassium chloride or Zequanox treatments. The commissioner shall conduct
pilot projects in Douglas County and up to two other areas of the state and select locations
and lakes to test various methods of applications and analyze the impacts on lakes of
various sizes. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until spent.
