  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; requiring the 
  1.3             department of trade and economic development to 
  1.4             conduct a study assessing the benefits of civic and 
  1.5             convention centers. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [STUDY TO ASSESS BENEFITS OF CIVIC CENTERS.] 
  1.8      The division of tourism of the department of trade and 
  1.9   economic development shall conduct a statewide study assessing 
  1.10  the benefits of civic and convention centers to the convention 
  1.11  and tourism industry in the state.  The results of the study 
  1.12  shall be reported to the international trade and tourism 
  1.13  committee of the house of representatives and the jobs, energy, 
  1.14  and community development committee of the senate by June 30, 
  1.15  1995. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective on the day following final enactment.
