A bill for an act
relating to commerce; consumer protection; requiring motor vehicle manufacturers
to offer antitheft protection devices on certain vehicles; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2022, section 80E.041, by adding a subdivision; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325E.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 80E.041, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

This section applies to the authorized antitheft protection
devices a manufacturer must offer under section 325E.0953.

A manufacturer, as defined in section 80E.03, subdivision 4, must offer to install at no
cost to the consumer an authorized antitheft protection device, as defined in section 65B.285,
subdivision 2, on all motor vehicles manufactured without an immobilizer after January 1,
2013.
