A bill for an act
relating to transportation; mass transit; prohibiting certain expenditures and
planning for the Zip Rail line.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin For purposes of this section, "Zip Rail line" means the
intercity passenger rail line between Rochester and the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan
area.

new text begin Metropolitan Council. new text end

new text begin The metropolitan council must not take any
action or spend any money for study, planning, preliminary engineering, final design, or
construction for the Zip Rail line. The council must remove all references, other than
references for historical purposes, to the Zip Rail line from any future revisions to the
council's transportation development guide and the council's regional transit master plan.

new text begin The commissioner of transportation
must not expend any money for study, planning, preliminary engineering, final design, or
construction for the Zip Rail line. The commissioner must remove all references, other
than references for historical purposes, to the Zip Rail line from any future revisions to the
state transportation plan and the commissioner's rail system planning.

money for study, planning, preliminary engineering, final design, or construction for the
Zip Rail line.
