1.2honoring Richard Copeland on his outstanding contributions to his community 1.3and state. 1.4WHEREAS, Richard Allen Copeland was born on August 5, 1955, in Minneapolis, 1.5Minnesota; and 1.6WHEREAS, Richard is a member of the Twin Cities Business Hall of Fame; and 1.7WHEREAS, Richard is internationally recognized as a pioneer and innovative entrepreneur 1.8in the commercial real estate, construction, and transportation industries, with an unyielding 1.9commitment to maximizing opportunities for entrepreneurs, subcontractors, and workers of color; 1.10and 1.11WHEREAS, Richard is also a trailblazer when it comes to developing and executing national 1.12majority-minority partnerships, including a local relationship with Mortenson that resulted in some 1.13of the most iconic stadiums in our community; and 1.14WHEREAS, Richard is a long-standing philanthropist and committed to years of service on 1.15numerous nonprofit boards; and 1.16WHEREAS, on August 28, 2021, representatives of government, philanthropy, and business 1.17in Minnesota will gather at the Regional Accelerator Center in North Minneapolis to celebrate and 1.18pay tribute to the remarkable life and legacy of Richard Copeland; and 1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 1.20congratulates Richard Copeland on his outstanding contributions to his community and state. 1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.22enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.23Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Richard Copeland.
