1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Mayo Clinic on being named the No. 1 hospital in Newsweek's list
1.3of the "World's Best Hospitals" for the sixth straight year.
1.4WHEREAS, Newsweek and Statista rank the world's best general hospitals that provide the most
1.5stellar care. The ranking of the world's top 2,400 hospitals in 30 countries is based on more than 85,000
1.6medical expert opinions, patient satisfaction and hygiene, patient safety and quality of care, patient-reported
1.7outcomes, and patient to doctor ratios; and
1.8WHEREAS, ranked the No. 1 best global hospital six years in a row for its exemplary quality across
1.9the board, Mayo Clinic is based out of Rochester, Minnesota, with campuses in Scottsdale, Arizona, and
1.10Jacksonville, Florida, and dozens of affiliated clinics across the country that are highly regarded as well;
1.11and
1.12WHEREAS, Mayo Clinic began as a single-physician medical practice in Rochester in 1864 and has
1.13grown into a global medical destination. Serving over 1.3 million patients annually from nearly 130 countries,
1.14this expansive nonprofit health system employs over 78,000 people and generated $16.3 billion in revenue
1.15in 2022; and
1.16WHEREAS, Mayo Clinic has made significant investments to design the future of care and achieve
1.17seamless integration of physical spaces and digital capabilities, including artificial intelligence, robotics,
1.18and automation, to meet patients' unmet and evolving needs; and
1.19WHEREAS, five years ago, Mayo Clinic launched its "Bold. Forward." strategy with three
1.20interconnected objectives: to discover more cures, which has been at the center of Mayo Clinic's mission
1.21since its inception; to connect people and data to create new knowledge; and to transform the entire health
1.22care system from a pipeline to a platform model; and
1.23WHEREAS, since then, Mayo Clinic has built and scaled Mayo Clinic Platform, health care's first
1.24true platform that dissolves division and isolation and enables data scientists, clinical experts, and other
1.25innovators to collaborate around secure, de-identified clinical data to create, validate, and scale digital health
1.26tech solutions to the world - all to provide hope and healing to more people; and
1.27WHEREAS, among other projects, the center's gastroenterologists are working to incorporate artificial
1.28intelligence in colonoscopy procedures to minimize the possibility of missing hard-to-spot polyps, thereby
1.29detecting colon cancer earlier; and
1.30NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it commends
1.31Mayo Clinic for its dedication to providing compassionate and expert care to patients from around the world
1.32and congratulates them on being named the No. 1 hospital in Newsweek's list of the "World's Best Hospitals"
1.33for the sixth straight year.
1.34BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled
1.35copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate
1.36Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Mayo Clinic.
