1.2congratulating the Holdingford High School girls dance team on winning
1.3the 2024 State High School Class A girls dance championship, High Kick
1.4Division.
1.5WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.6sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Holdingford dance team participated in the 2024 State High School Class
1.8A girls dance tournament on February 17, 2024, at the Target Center in Minneapolis; and
1.9WHEREAS, the Huskers, one of six teams to advance to the finals in the High Kick Division,
1.10won their first state championship, finishing ahead of second-place Yellow Medicine East and
1.11third-place Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd; and
1.12WHEREAS, Holdingford, dancing to a magic show-themed routine to "The Perfect Illusion,"
1.13wore faux white tie attire, like an old-school magician all the way down to black gloves, in their
1.14championship-winning performance; and
1.15WHEREAS, it was an incredible accomplishment for the Huskers to win the state
1.16championship just six years after founding a varsity dance team; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.18congratulations are extended to the members of the Holdingford High School girls dance team for
1.19their sportsmanship and skill.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.23Holdingford High School.
