1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hopkins High School girls basketball team on winning the 2013 State 1.3High School Class 4A girls basketball championship. 1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of sportsmanship 1.5and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and 1.6WHEREAS, the Hopkins basketball team was one of eight teams that participated in the 2013 State High 1.7School Class 4A girls basketball tournament on March 13-16, 2013; and 1.8WHEREAS, after beating Saint Michael-Albertville 77-58 in the quarterfinals and Osseo 73-50 in the 1.9semifinals, they defeated the Bloomington Kennedy Eagles 68-45 in the final game of the tournament at Target Center 1.10to win their third consecutive state championship; and 1.11WHEREAS, the Royals finished the season with an outstanding 31-1 record; and 1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that congratulations are 1.13extended to the members of the Hopkins High School girls basketball team for their sportsmanship and skill. 1.14BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled copy 1.15of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate Rules and 1.16Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Hopkins High School.
