1.1A Senate resolution
1.2in memory of Danielle Rogers.
1.3WHEREAS, Danielle Rogers of Champlin, Minnesota was a selfless young woman who
1.4excelled academically while performing countless acts of service to her community; and
1.5WHEREAS, Danielle was a 2016 graduate of Champlin Park High School, graduating with
1.6high honors; she was a freshman at the University of Minnesota and was studying paleontology;
1.7and
1.8WHEREAS, Danielle frequently volunteered to feed and clothe the local homeless population,
1.9including at Harbor Light Shelter in Minneapolis, and she handed out food at Family Table once
1.10a month at her church, Trinity Episcopal Church in Anoka, which she attended regularly; more
1.11recently, she brought bags of goodies for the homeless that she saw on campus; and
1.12WHEREAS, Danielle was part of the National Honor Society, and she worked to support
1.13law enforcement; and
1.14WHEREAS, Danielle tragically passed away at the age of 18 in December 2016 in an
1.15accident, and she is deeply missed by her family and many dear friends; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17extends its sincere condolences to the family of Danielle Rogers on her passing, and it honors her
1.18life filled with acts of kindness, service, and personal achievement.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Danielle
1.22Rogers.
