1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Hmong-American activist Michael Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Michael Her is a prominent, respected leader in the Hmong-American
1.4community, having dedicated the past 25 years to the enrichment of the Hmong experience
1.5in United States; and
1.6WHEREAS, as President of the Hmong Her Association, Michael has supported Hmong
1.7culture and identity in the United States, connected Hmong communities across the nation, and
1.8promoted higher education opportunities for Hmong-American youth; and
1.9WHEREAS, Michael has used his acumen in business to help immigrants, has served as
1.10spokesperson for the National Hmong-American Farmers Association, and has fostered civic
1.11engagement with community events; and
1.12WHEREAS, he has also served as a mediator for social, religious, and cultural events in
1.13the Hmong community across the nation, including in Minnesota; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.15recognizes Michael Her for his sustained commitment to the advancement of Hmong-American
1.16life.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Michael Her.
