1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the 130th anniversary of the Church of St. Peter of North St. Paul,
1.3Minnesota.
1.4WHEREAS, churches that serve their constituents and the community by providing religious
1.5services, education, retreats, and hands-on service learning are deserving of special legislative
1.6recognition; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Church of St. Peter was founded in 1888 by parishioners of German and
1.8Irish descent who built their historic church in 1917, which was renovated in 2008 and retained the
1.9structure of the historic church; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Church of St. Peter has served the city's Catholics for 130 years and has
1.11educated students at its St. Peter Catholic School since 1916; and
1.12WHEREAS, the church is involved in the local community and supports and welcomes
1.13families from the West African countries of Liberia, Cameroon, and Nigeria and is partnered with
1.14Cristo Redentor Catholic Community in Paraguay; and
1.15WHEREAS, the church is celebrating its 130th anniversary and 10th anniversary of its
1.16renovation with a special mass on Sunday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m., presided by Archbishop
1.17Bernard Hebda; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19recognizes the long-standing contributions the Church of St. Peter has made to the community and
1.20extends the church best wishes.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.22enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.23Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Church of St. Peter.
