1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hayfield High School boys basketball team on winning
1.3the 2022 State High School Class A boys basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Hayfield basketball team participated in the 2022 State High School Class
1.7A boys basketball tournament on March 23-26, 2022; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 66-49 in the quarterfinals and Cherry 72-61
1.9in the semifinals, the Hayfield Vikings defeated the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars 51-49 in the
1.10final game of the tournament at Williams Arena to win their second consecutive state championship;
1.11and
1.12WHEREAS, the Vikings finished the regular season with an outstanding 32-2 record; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14congratulations are extended to the members of the Hayfield High School boys basketball team for
1.15their sportsmanship and skill.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Hayfield
1.19High School.
