A bill for an act
 relating to health occupations; establishing a voluntary nursing registration renewal
fee; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 148.243, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 148.243, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The board may request a voluntary fee of $5 from each licensee
upon nursing registration renewal, to be used by the board to provide grant funding for peer
support services, education, and outreach relating to substance use disorder in the nursing
profession. The registration renewal application must clearly state that the fee is not required
and must provide space for a licensee to indicate payment or nonpayment of the voluntary
fee. A licensee's decision regarding this fee shall be confidential.
