A bill for an act
 relating to higher education; appropriating money for Natural Resources Research
Institute at University of Minnesota Duluth.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; NATURAL RESOURCES RESEARCH INSTITUTE.

new text begin $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $3,000,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from
the general fund to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for operations and
maintenance of the Natural Resources Research Institute at the University of Minnesota
Duluth. The funds shall be used for operations, maintenance, research, and staff support to
strengthen applied research activities and accelerate innovation and economic development
in key areas such as minerals, mining and water, energy and the environment, and forest
products and bioeconomy. This is an ongoing appropriation.
