A bill for an act
relating to health care; prohibiting the direct billing to providers for administrative
services regarding claims submitted to a health plan company by a provider;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin No health plan company or third-party administrator shall directly charge a provider or
subtract an amount from a claim payment made to a provider for processing a claim submitted
to the health plan company or third-party administrator by the provider for a covered service
performed by the provider. This section includes any cost incurred by the health plan
company or third-party administrator to evaluate the claim, process the claim, or pay the
claim.
