A bill for an act
relating to education; creating a directory of cross-references to statutes
governing parental rights in education; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 124D.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The sections referred to in subdivisions 2 to 30 are
codified outside this section. Those sections govern parental rights related to topics in
prekindergarten through grade 12 education.

Parental rights related to compulsory
instruction, including the right to: withdraw a child from school; notice related to transfer
of disciplinary records; excuse a child from school for illnesses, appointments, or religious
events; and access by noncustodial parents to school records and conferences, among
other rights, are governed by section 120A.22.

The parental right to annual summary longitudinal
performance and progress data is governed by section 120B.31.

policies, including the right to be involved in developing the policies, the right to be
