A bill for an act
relating to human services; prohibiting the commissioner of human services from
employing any individual who serves or has an immediate family member who
serves on the board of an organization that receives at least 25 percent of its funding
from the Department of Human Services; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018,
section 256.01, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 256.01, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

prohibited. new text end

new text begin The commissioner shall not employ any person who serves, or whose immediate
family member as defined in section 268.035, subdivision 19a, serves, on the board of any
organization that receives at least 25 percent of its funding from, through, or under a contract
with the Department of Human Services. An employee in violation of this subdivision has
30 days from the date that the commissioner becomes aware of the violation to correct the
violation.
