relating to natural resources; transferring responsibility for mining promotion.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text beginTRANSFER OF MINING PROMOTION RESPONSIBILITIES.

new text begin The responsibilities of the commissioner of natural resources to promote mining under
Minnesota Statutes, section 84.027 and chapter 93, are transferred to the commissioner of
employment and economic development.

Sec. 2. new text beginTRANSITION RECOMMENDATIONS; REPORT

new text begin By January 15, 2021, the commissioner of natural resources and the commissioner of
employment and economic development must submit a report to the chairs and ranking
minority members of the house of representatives and senate committees and divisions with
jurisdiction over environment and natural resources and employment and economic
development. The report must include a transition plan and any recommendations for
amending Minnesota Statutes and Minnesota Rules to implement the transfer of
responsibilities provided under section 1.
