A bill for an act
 relating to veterans; broadening the eligibility criteria for peace officer reciprocity
licensing exam to include certain persons in active military service; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 626.8517.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 626.8517, is amended to read:


626.8517 ELIGIBILITY FOR RECIPROCITY EXAMINATION BASED ON
RELEVANT MILITARY EXPERIENCE.

(a) For purposes of this section, "relevant military experience" means five years of
active duty military police service.

(b) A person who has relevant military experience and who new text begin is serving honorably
or new text end has been honorably discharged from the military is eligible to take the reciprocity
examination.
