A bill for an act
relating to state government; abolishing daylight savings time; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2018, section 645.071.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 645.071, is amended to read:
Every mention of, or reference to, any hour or time in any law is to be construed with
reference to and in accordance with the standard time deleted text begin or advanced standard timedeleted text end provided
by federal law. No department of the state government and no county, city or town shall
employ any other time or adopt any ordinance or order providing for the use of any other
time than the federal standard time deleted text begin or advanced standard timedeleted text end .

This section is effective January 1, 2020.

The state claims exemption, as permitted under United States Code, title 15, chapter 6,
subchapter IX, section 260a(a), from the requirement in the same federal law to advance
standard time by one hour from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November
each year.
