A bill for an act
relating to pensions; authorizing a service credit purchase.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TRA; PURCHASE OF SERVICE CREDIT FOR ST. CLOUD STATE
UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEE.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, an eligible person described
in paragraph (b) is entitled to purchase from the Teacher Retirement Association allowable
service credit as calculated under Minnesota Statutes, section 356.551, for the period of
service described in paragraph (c).

new text begin (b) An eligible person is a person who:

new text begin (1) was an employee of St. Cloud State University on March 1, 2018;
new text end

new text begin (2) was a member of the Teachers Retirement Association on March 1, 2018;
new text end

new text begin (3) took leave from St. Cloud State University from August 28, 2006, through January
13, 2008; and
new text end

new text begin (4) while on the leave under clause (3), provided services to the United States State
Department and the United States Treasury Department.

new text begin (c) The period of uncredited service authorized for purchase is the period of August 28,
2006, through January 13, 2008, for a total service credit purchase of 1.35 years.

new text begin (d) Authority to make a service credit purchase under this section expires one year from
the effective date of this section.
