1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing Saren Croker for earning the 2019 Athena Award.
1.3WHEREAS, athletic and academic accomplishments are worthy of legislative recognition;
1.4and
1.5WHEREAS, the Athena Award is annually awarded to outstanding female high school
1.6student-athletes in recognition of their achievements in academics and athletics; and
1.7WHEREAS, Saren Croker is a senior at Park High School, where she is a member of the
1.8National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., Pack of Friends, Link Crew, and Leaders of the Pack and has
1.9served as a student aide in the Park High School office; and
1.10WHEREAS, in softball, she earned four letters, two All-Conference Awards, one All-State
1.11Award, and two All-Section Awards and was a part of the All-State Tournament Team; and
1.12WHEREAS, in basketball, she earned four letters, served as team captain, was an
1.13All-Conference Honorable Mention, and earned Academic All-State honors; and
1.14WHEREAS, in tennis, she earned two letters and was named Rookie of the Year; and
1.15WHEREAS, Saren also gives back to the community by fostering dogs and by volunteering
1.16at Armory youth catchers, the American Legion Halloween party, softball and basketball summer
1.17camps, the Dorothy Day Center, and women's shelters; and
1.18WHEREAS, Saren will continue playing softball and studying at Creighton University with
1.19plans to major in biology; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.21congratulates Saren Croker on receiving the 2019 Athena Award and extends her best wishes for
1.22the future.
1.23BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.24enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.25Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Saren Croker.
