1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing May 15, 2021, as Peace Officers Memorial Day.
1.3WHEREAS, President John F. Kennedy established Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962
1.4to honor peace officers who have died or become disabled in the line of duty; and
1.5WHEREAS, the peace officers of the United States of America have worked devotedly and
1.6selflessly on behalf of the people of this nation, regardless of the peril or hazard to themselves; and
1.7WHEREAS, these officers have safeguarded the lives and property of their fellow Americans;
1.8and
1.9WHEREAS, these men and women by their patriotic service and their dedicated efforts have
1.10earned the gratitude of the state of Minnesota; and
1.11NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.12recognizes May 15, 2021, as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of officers that have been
1.13killed or disabled in the line of duty and urges all Minnesotans to recognize and support peace
1.14officers in their communities.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.16enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.17Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Minnesota Law
1.18Enforcement Memorial Association.
