1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Hannah Carter on finishing in second place in the 2013 Minnesota
1.3Aviation Art Contest
1.4WHEREAS, the Minnesota Aviation Art Contest, sponsored by the Minnesota Department
1.5of Transportation's Office of Aeronautics for the past 16 years, helps students learn about aviation
1.6through designing a piece of art based upon the year's selected theme, which is "My Favorite
1.7Air Sport"; and
1.8WHEREAS, four winning entries in three age categories were selected by a panel of
1.9judges, including professional educators, business people, and aviation industry members; and
1.10WHEREAS, the winning entries will receive gift certificates for art supplies and a
1.11certificate for a Discovery Flight at their local airport; and
1.12WHEREAS, Hannah Carter finished in second place in the 14-17 age category, and an
1.13official award ceremony for the winners will be held on March 15, 2013, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
1.14in the State Capitol Rotunda; and
1.15WHEREAS, the top three entries in each age category are sent to Washington, D.C., to
1.16compete at the national level; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Hannah Carter on finishing in second place in the 2013 Minnesota Aviation Art
1.19Contest, and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Hannah Carter.
