1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Margaret Tjosvold of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, on her 100th birthday.
1.3WHEREAS, our communities are blessed by the presence of those who have lived long lives and
1.4who are part of our living history, and having a 100th birthday is a joyous occasion and a time to honor and
1.5congratulate the celebrant; and
1.6WHEREAS, Margaret Tjosvold was born in Minneapolis on October 14, 1918, and has lived an
1.7accomplished and productive life dedicated to the welfare of others; and
1.8WHEREAS, Margaret began her career at J.C. Penney, rising to become the first woman to head the
1.9catalog department and after 25 years cofounded, in 1977, the Camilia Rose Care Center in Coon Rapids
1.10with her daughter, Mary, and her sister, Agnes Mallary; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Camilia Rose Care Center, the flagship center for Mary T. Inc., provides senior
1.12living, assisted-living services, and services to individuals with disabilities along with other services; and
1.13WHEREAS, Mary T. Inc. offers high-quality and compassionate care and comfort throughout the
1.14country with locations in Arizona, Maryland, Minnesota, and Wisconsin; and
1.15WHEREAS, Margaret's children, Mary, Dean, and Dale, continue Margaret's legacy even as she
1.16continues to serve as an ambassador to the Mary T. organization; and
1.17WHEREAS, Margaret's care for others extended to all over the world, from Cameroon to Ireland,
1.18as she traveled to create schools and provide educational opportunities such as at the Margaret Tjosvold
1.19Primary School in Cameroon; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.21congratulates Margaret Tjosvold on her successful career as a stabilizing force for good and for her
1.22commitment to others and congratulates her on her 100th birthday.
1.23BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled
1.24copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate
1.25Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Margaret Tjosvold.
