1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Cadet Captain Elias J. Rosedahl on receiving the Amelia Earhart Award.
1.3WHEREAS, the Amelia Earhart Award is the second major milestone in the Civil Air
1.4Patrol's Cadet Program and is achieved after passing a comprehensive test over the first 12
1.5achievements of the Cadet Program; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Amelia Earhart Award follows the Mitchell Award, the first major
1.7milestone in the Cadet Program, which is achieved after passing a comprehensive test over the
1.8first eight achievements of the Cadet Program; and
1.9WHEREAS, during the process, the cadets are put into positions that are designed to
1.10challenge them physically, mentally, and morally, and are taught to follow, lead others, and
1.11eventually administer an operational squadron; and
1.12WHEREAS, Elias J. Rosedahl, who is a high school senior and will be attending Rochester
1.13Community and Technical College through the Post-Secondary Education Options program, has
1.14been a cadet since November 2008, and received his Mitchell Award in October 2010; and
1.15WHEREAS, Elias led the cadets as the Cadet Commander from October 2011 through the
1.16end of July 2012, and received his Amelia Earhart Award on October 31, 2012; and
1.17WHEREAS, upon receiving the Amelia Earhart Award, Elias is authorized to wear the
1.18grade of Cadet Captain; and
1.19WHEREAS, the ultimate goal for cadets is to achieve the Carl Spaatz Award, which is
1.20achieved after passing a comprehensive test over all 19 achievements of the Cadet Program, and
1.21be authorized to wear the grade of Colonel; and
2.1NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
2.2congratulates Cadet Captain Elias J. Rosedahl on receiving the Amelia Earhart Award, and wishes
2.3him well in his future endeavors.
2.4BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
2.5an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
2.6the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Cadet Captain
2.7Elias J. Rosedahl.
