1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School girls basketball
1.3team on winning the 2016 State High School Class AA girls basketball
1.4championship.
1.5WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.6sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Plainview-Elgin-Millville basketball team was one of eight teams that
1.8participated in the 2016 State High School Class AA girls basketball tournament on March
1.916-19, 2016; and
1.10WHEREAS, after beating Holy Family Catholic 59-38 in the quarterfinals and Roseau
1.1187-78 in the semifinals, they defeated the New London-Spicer Wildcats 72-42 in the final game of
1.12the tournament at Williams Arena to win the state championship; and
1.13WHEREAS, the Bulldogs finished the season with an outstanding 31-1 record; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15congratulations are extended to the members of the Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School girls
1.16basketball team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.18an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.19the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.20Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School.
