1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Stillwater Area High School girls Nordic skiing team on winning
1.3the 2018 Girls Nordic Skiing State Meet championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Stillwater Nordic skiing team participated in the 2018 Girls Nordic Skiing
1.7State Meet championship at Giants Ridge in Biwabik on February 15, 2018; and
1.8WHEREAS, they defeated the Forest Lake Rangers414 to 407 and won their tenth state
1.9championship; and
1.10WHEREAS, four team members earned All-State and two team members earned individual
1.11medals; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Ponies finished the regular season with an outstanding 5-0 record; and
1.13WHEREAS, since 1976, the Ponies have won 19 team titles or runner-up titles, more than
1.14any other high school team; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.16congratulations are extended to the members of the Stillwater Area High School girls Nordic skiing
1.17team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.19enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.20Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Stillwater
1.21Area High School.
