1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Donna Eddy of Big Lake, Minnesota, on her 90th birthday.
1.3WHEREAS, our communities are blessed by the presence of those who have lived long
1.4lives and who are part of our living history; and
1.5WHEREAS, having a 90th birthday is a joyous occasion and a time to honor and
1.6congratulate the celebrant; and
1.7WHEREAS, Donna Eddy was born on March 13, 1924, in Big Lake, Minnesota, graduated
1.8from high school there in 1942, and entered the Cadet Nurse Corps; and
1.9WHEREAS, after graduating as a registered nurse, she served during World War II at the
1.10naval hospital in San Diego, California, and later returned to Minnesota and married Rolland
1.11Eddy; and
1.12WHEREAS, she continued her nursing work at the hospital in Monticello and in the
1.13local ambulance service; and
1.14WHEREAS, when she retired from nursing, she worked for the Sherburne County Rural
1.15Telephone Company, a local company owned by the Eddy family; and
1.16WHEREAS, all her life she has been active in the community in and around Big Lake,
1.17not only in her church, local food shelf, and local cemetery association, but also by helping to
1.18establish the Eddy Library at the Sherburne County Historical Society, and the nonprofit Eddy
1.19Family Foundation; and
1.20WHEREAS, a celebration in honor of her 90th birthday will be held on Saturday, March
1.2115, 2014; and
2.1NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
2.2congratulates Donna Eddy of Big Lake, Minnesota, on her 90th birthday.
2.3BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.4enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.5Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Donna Eddy.
