1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing and thanking Minnesota's local election judges.
1.3WHEREAS, there are over 30,000 local election judges and other election officials working
1.4throughout Minnesota's 87 counties who administer a fair and honest process in every election,
1.5ensuring that our elections are honest and the results are an accurate reflection of the will of the
1.6voters; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Minnesota electorate's confidence in the process has consistently led to the
1.8nation's highest voter turnout; and
1.9WHEREAS, all local, state, and federal candidates and elected officials are dependent on
1.10and benefit from the diligent work of election judges and other election officials who make our
1.11democracy work in every election cycle; and
1.12WHEREAS, local election officials have faced increasing attacks on their integrity and their
1.13hard work, leading to potential shortages of citizens willing to step up and perform this public
1.14service; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.16recognizes Minnesota's local election officials for their dedicated service to our democracy and
1.17their work to ensure that Minnesota's elections are honest, fair, and accurate; and
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it thanks and
1.19offers its gratitude to election judges and officials for stepping up to perform the important public
1.20service of administering our elections; and
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it thanks the
1.22civic-minded community organizations, including the Minnesota League of Women Voters and
1.23Common Cause Minnesota, for their work to provide confidence to voters in the integrity of our
1.24election process; and
1.25BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it encourages
1.26Minnesota citizens to continue civic service in the 2022 election season and in future elections to
1.27ensure the continuation of Minnesota's honest and fair elections; and
1.28BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.29enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.30Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee.
