1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the University of Minnesota women's ice hockey team on
1.3winning the 2012 NCAA hockey championship
1.4WHEREAS, individual and team championships are highly sought honors in college
1.5academics and sports; and
1.6WHEREAS, after an outstanding regular season and a WCHA tournament championship,
1.7the University of Minnesota women's hockey team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.82012 NCAA women's hockey tournament; and
1.9WHEREAS, after beating North Dakota 5-1 in the quarterfinals and Cornell 3-1 in the
1.10semifinals, the Gophers defeated the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers 4-2 in the final game of
1.11the tournament on March 18, 2012, at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth to win their third NCAA
1.12championship, and they ended the season with an outstanding 34-5-2 record; and
1.13WHEREAS, Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Tuesday, March 20, 2012, as Golden
1.14Gopher Day; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.16it congratulates the University of Minnesota women's hockey team on winning the national
1.17championship.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.19enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.20Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the University of
1.21Minnesota women's ice hockey team.
