1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Suzanne Kritzberg on the occasion of her retirement from the Minnesota
1.3Ballet.
1.4WHEREAS, the Minnesota Ballet is an integral part of the Minnesota arts community and
1.5a pillar of culture in the city of Duluth; and
1.6WHEREAS, Suzanne Kritzberg began her tenure with the Minnesota Ballet in 1990; and
1.7WHEREAS, her performances have consistently won critical acclaim and earned her the
1.8designation of Prima Ballerina with the company; and
1.9WHEREAS, Kritzberg has been awarded a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Dancers and a
1.10fellowship grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, among other honors; and
1.11WHEREAS, her longevity in ballet results not only from natural talent combined with
1.12rigorous training, but from a drive and focus unique even in the upper echelons of the performing
1.13arts; and
1.14WHEREAS, Kritzberg is known as the unofficial leader of the Minnesota Ballet and even
1.15had her own day declared by Duluth Mayor Don Ness on March 10, 2010; and
1.16WHEREAS, after dancing 22 years with the company and establishing herself as an icon of
1.17the arts in Minnesota, Suzanne Kritzberg is hanging up her toe shoes to pursue a career in law; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.19that it honors Suzanne Kritzberg for her illustrious ballet career and congratulates her on the
1.20occasion of her retirement.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.2enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.3Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Suzanne Kritzberg.
