1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the David Stemig Farm for being a 2017 Century Farm.
1.3WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau have recognized 165
1.4Minnesota farms as 2017 Century Farms; and
1.5WHEREAS, qualifying farms have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100
1.6years and are 50 acres or more; and
1.7WHEREAS, since the program began in 1976, more than 10,000 Minnesota farms have
1.8been recognized as Century Farms; and
1.9WHEREAS, David Stemig is the owner of the Stemig Farm in Jordan; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Stemig Farm has been in operation since 1874 and is being recognized for
1.11more than 100 years of continuous family ownership, as well as its contributions to Minnesota's
1.12agriculture industry; and
1.13WHEREAS, Century Farm families receive a commemorative sign, as well as a certificate
1.14signed by Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau presidents and Governor Mark Dayton;
1.15and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17congratulates the David Stemig Farm on being a 2017 Century Farm.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.19enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.20Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the David Stemig Farm.
