1.2honoring Ellie Stodden of Cannon Falls High School on setting school
1.3and state records in weightlifting.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, Ellie Stodden of Cannon Falls High School participated in the Minnesota
1.7State High School Weightlifting Championships at Lakeville South High School on March 12,
1.82016, in the 48-kilogram category; and
1.9WHEREAS, Ellie set school and state records with her lifts of 58 kilograms in the clean
1.10and jerk, 46 kilograms in the snatch, and 104 kilograms for the total weight, a tremendous
1.11accomplishment deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.13it congratulates Ellie Stodden of Cannon Falls High School on setting school and state records
1.14in weightlifting.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.16enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.17Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Ellie Stodden.
