1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Sydney Kent of Coon Rapids, Minnesota for receiving the Girl Scouts
1.3of the U.S.A. Silver Award.
1.4WHEREAS, Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, helping girls
1.5to reach their full potential, develop positive values, and contribute to the improvement of society
1.6through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Silver Award is the highest award received as a Cadette Girl Scout and the
1.8second highest award given by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.; and
1.9WHEREAS, the Cadette Girl Scouts are girls in the 6th to 9th grades and, to earn a Silver
1.10Award, a Cadette Girl Scout must complete three interest projects, a leadership activity, a career
1.11exploration activity, a challenge project, and a Silver Award service project; and
1.12WHEREAS, Sydney is a Juliette Girl Scout which involves setting goals, scheduling
1.13activities, and accomplishing achievements on her own instead of as part of a Girl Scout troop; and
1.14WHEREAS, for her project Sydney made fleece blankets, collected 200 books, and
1.15donated them to Children's Hospital; and
1.16WHEREAS, she will receive the Silver Award at a Silver and Gold Awards Banquet; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Sydney Kent for receiving the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Silver Award.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Sydney Kent.
