1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the life and service of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles Paul Nord.
1.3WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles Paul Nord was born in Breckenridge,
1.4Minnesota. He graduated from Perham High School in 2007 and obtained his associates degree in
1.5construction electrical technology; and
1.6WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard as a
1.7tanker, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was selected for Warrant Officer Candidate School,
1.8with follow-on instruction as a UH-60 Black Hawk aeromedical evacuation pilot; and
1.9WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord dedicated 12 years of exemplary service to the
1.10Minnesota National Guard; and
1.11WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord served with distinction on a nine-month deployment
1.12with the Minnesota National Guard's Company C, 2-211th General Support Aviation Battalion in
1.13Kuwait, where his unit provided aerial medical evacuation; and
1.14WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord died tragically in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter
1.15crash nine minutes after takeoff from St. Cloud, Minnesota, on a routine maintenance flight; and
1.16WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord will be remembered for his easy-going nature,
1.17quick-witted humor, and incredible love for his family; and
1.18WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Nord is survived by his loving wife Kaley, his daughter
1.19Lydia, his unborn son Jack, his parents Paul and Monica Nord, his brother James Nord, and his
1.20large extended family; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22recognizes Chief Warrant Officer Nord for his dedicated service and ultimate sacrifice to our state
1.23and country.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Tuesday, February 11, 2020, is recognized as Chief
1.25Warrant Officer 2 Charles Paul Nord Day.
1.26BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.27enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.28Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Chief
1.29Warrant Officer 2 Charles Paul Nord.
