1.2recognizing Harry Sieben for receiving the Minnesota Superior Volunteer 1.3Service Award from the Minnesota National Guard. 1.4WHEREAS, those who serve in the United States armed forces are to be commended for 1.5their heroic service in defense of our country and in the spread of freedom and democracy throughout 1.6the world; and 1.7WHEREAS, Harry "Tex" Sieben was recognized by the Minnesota National Guard for his 1.8decades of service to the United States armed forces, including civilian service; and 1.9WHEREAS, Harry retired earlier this year after acting as Civilian Aide to the Secretary of 1.10the Army for Minnesota for six terms; and 1.11WHEREAS, his lifelong commitment to public service has included serving in the Minnesota 1.12House of Representatives, serving as the 49th Speaker of the House from 1981 to 1985, and 1.13advocating for and providing legal representation to those with injuries; and 1.14WHEREAS, Governor Tim Walz presented Harry with this honor in the presence of Assistant 1.15Secretary of the Army Roger Combs, Major General Jon Jensen, the Adjutant General, and several 1.16other dignitaries, family, and friends; and 1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 1.18congratulates Harry Sieben for receiving the Minnesota Superior Volunteer Service Award and 1.19extends sincere gratitude for his dedicated commitment to public service. 1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Harry Sieben.
